ADOPTION GUIDELINES

Boxer Lovers does not adopt on a first come/first serve basis. To do so would only set our boxers up for failure.

We not only want the boxers to find their forever family but also for you to find the boxer that is going to fit best within your family dynamics.

We cannot tell you how long it will take to adopt as that depends on what you are needing in a boxer and the boxers currently with us.

If we do not have a boxer that is a good fit we will continue to work with you to find the right boxer for your family.

Stay open minded - don't get stuck on a boxers look - while that little fawn girl might be cute as a button or the brindle boy looks

just like the boxer you lost a few years back, they also may be the worst possible fit for your family.

BOXERS ARE SPAY/NEUTERED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PUPS UNDER 6 MO OLD-ADOPTER WILL HAVE PUP ALTERED AND PROVIDE PROOF AT 6 MO OF AGE

ADOPTION APPLICATION

Applications are processed through Petstablished and needs to be completed from a computer - we will not receive the application if it is done from your phone. You can also download a PDF file of the application, fill it out and email to adopt@boxerloversrescue.com.

Any person adopting a boxer must complete the adoption application.

SCHEDULE ADOPTION INTERVIEW

You will need to set up your adoption interview. You can choose from different days/times available. Once scheduled you will receive a Zoom link where you will connect for the interview.

ADOPTION INTERVIEW

The interview is through Zoom. You will connect using the link provided when the interview was scheduled. We will be going over your application with you, as well as asking other questions that will help us have a good understanding of your family dynamics. We will also answer any questions you may have.

APPLICATION REVIEW

Our Adoption Team will review your application and interview so to begin building a profile of what we're looking for in the boxer. Occasionally, the Adoption Team may request more information.

WE HAVE A MATCH

When the Adoption Team has found a boxer they feel is a good match for your family, they will contact you with information on the boxer.

If you do not feel the boxer is the one for you - we will keep looking

ADOPTION

When a boxer is found that we both feel is a good match for your family we will send the adoption paperwork to you. All of our adoptions are done through Petstablished or Jotforms. The adoption agreement and fee are to be taken care of within 24 hours.

PICK UP/TRANSPORT

Once the adoption agreement and adoption fee has been taken care of, arrangements will be made for you to get your new family member.

PICKUP-It is expected for you to pick the boxer up within 1 week of adoption. Holding the boxer ties up a spot needed for another boxer in need.

TRANSPORT-If you have requested a transport, we will post the boxer needing a ride. All transports are done by volunteers and are set up according to their availability. We cannot arrange for any specific date or time. You will need to be flexible and make yourself available. If a transport offer is refused, it will then be your responsibility to pick up the boxer.

We also cannot guarantee there will be an offer to transport made. If after 2 weeks of posting and there has been no offer to transport, it will be your responsibility to pick up the boxer.

DOGS MUST BE OVER 6 MONTHS OF AGE FOR TRANSPORT. All puppies must be picked up when adopted!!!

VACCINATION RECORDS

When the dog is leaving our care, you will receive an email from Petstablished giving you access to the dogs records.

MICROCHIP

When the dog is leaving our care, we will transfer microchip to you. You will receive an email/text with instructions to complete the transfer. Boxer Lovers does remain as 2nd contact on the microchip - this cannot be removed

Please remember that we are all volunteers - we all work, have families to take care of, as well as our boxers. We will get your application processed just as quickly as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
